Success Case
Rhenish Church Grace School adheres to its educational mission by implementing a Christian holistic education, aiming to train children with moderate intellectual disabilities to unlock their potential and adapt to social life. By introducing a self-service system that simulates the self-checkout and payment processes of a supermarket, the school enhances students’ learning interest.
The system is designed with both graphics and text, accompanied by audio explanations. The option to choose between Chinese and English languages ensures that students whose native language is not Chinese can also have equal learning opportunities.

- Encouraging responsibility: Using the self-service system teaches students to be responsible, as they need to take charge of completing payments or canceling transactions when payments fail.
- Enhancing problem-solving skills: When students encounter issues like scanning errors, they learn to troubleshoot and address minor technical challenges.
- Improving time management: Through the operational process of the self-service system, students are encouraged to manage their time efficiently.
- Promoting financial literacy: When making payments with the Octopus card and encountering error messages about insufficient balance, students can practice budget management, considering whether their Octopus card balance is enough to purchase what they want, thereby enhancing their financial management knowledge.
- Fostering etiquette: Students follow the instructions on the self-service system, wait patiently in line, and when one student encounters an issue during operation, others can offer assistance.
